Caregiver coaching

You are part of the therapy.

Caregiver coaching is part of every session here, not an add-on. You will never be expected to become your child’s therapist.

Autism caregiver coaching at Growing Through Play is real-time, in-session guidance for the parent or caregiver, woven into every in-home DIR/Floortime® and pediatric OT session, with reflective, video-based coaching between sessions.

No one knows your child better than you do. You’ll learn to recognize what your child’s behavior is communicating, and feel more confident in the moments that happen every day.

The therapy hour is just the beginning.

The moments that matter most happen throughout your week — during play, meals, transitions, getting dressed, bedtime, and all the little moments in between.

Caregiver coaching is not an extra service. It is built into every session.

You don’t need to memorize a list of techniques. You simply need to understand your child a little more deeply, and have practical ways to respond.

Together, we’ll explore how you can

  • Follow your child’s lead
  • Notice and respond to communication
  • Create more opportunities for back-and-forth interaction
  • Support regulation through co-regulation
  • Use your child’s interests to build engagement
  • Turn everyday routines into opportunities for connection
  • Feel more confident when challenging moments arise

The goal isn’t for you to recreate a therapy session at home. The goal is to help you feel confident connecting with your child in real life.

What parent coaching looks like here

Coaching inside every session

It happens live, during the session — on the living room floor, at the kitchen table — so you leave with strategies that fit the routines you already have.

Reflective video coaching

No judgment. No grading. Just noticing.

Share a short video of an everyday interaction with your child. Together, we’ll look at what your child was communicating, what you did that helped, and one small thing you might try next time. The goal is to help you notice the little moments of connection that are already happening — and build from there.

The Relationship Intensive

More frequent sessions and coaching over a short window, so you can learn, practise, ask questions, and get guidance while it is still fresh.

A caregiver curriculum that runs alongside sessions

Growing Through Play offers a unique combination of in-home DIR/Floortime® caregiver coaching and a dedicated caregiver curriculum designed by Keri.

You leave with a better understanding of your child, not just a list of activities to practice.

“You will never be expected to become your child’s therapist. My role is to walk alongside you, help you understand your child, and give you practical tools that fit into your actual life.”
